Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna

Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna is a seasoned administrator, accomplished public servant and politician with several decades of experience in governance, public administration and community development. Over the years, he has built a reputation for effective leadership, grassroots engagement and strategic policy implementation across different levels of government. Born on 6th August 1967 in Kano State, Nigeria, Dr. Gawuna began his educational journey at Gawuna Primary School before proceeding to Government Secondary School, Gwaram, and later Science Secondary School, Dawakin Kudu. He subsequently attended the School of Basic Studies at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto in 1990. Dr. Gawuna commenced his professional career in public service where he worked as an Assistant Electoral Officer with the National Electoral Commission between 1992 and 1994. He later served as a Laboratory Technologist with the Kano State Hospital Management Board before venturing fully into politics and public administration. His political career spans several strategic leadership positions. He served as Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government Area in Kano State for two terms, during which he contributed significantly to grassroots governance and local development. He later served as Commissioner for Agriculture in Kano State under successive administrations, where he championed agricultural development initiatives and programmes aimed at enhancing food security and empowering farmers across the state. In September 2018, Dr. Gawuna was appointed Deputy Governor of Kano State, serving under Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. In this role, he played a key part in policy formulation, state development initiatives and crisis management, including serving as Chairman of the Kano State Taskforce Committee on COVID-19. He served as Deputy Governor until May 2023. In recognition of his vast experience in governance and administration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN). In this capacity, he provides strategic leadership and oversight to the Bank, supporting its mandate of expanding access to affordable housing finance and strengthening Nigeria’s mortgage system. Dr. Gawuna is widely regarded as a dedicated public servant who has demonstrated commitment, integrity and strong leadership throughout his career. His experience across grassroots administration, state governance and national assignments places him in a strategic position to contribute meaningfully to the growth of Nigeria’s housing finance sector. Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna enjoys community service, mentoring young leaders and participating in initiatives that promote sustainable development. He is happily married with children.

Shehu Usman Osidi

Shehu Usman Osidi ’is a consummate banker with over 30 years of banking experience. He commenced his career in banking in 1990 and given his outstanding leadership acumen and strategic prowess, rose to the position of Branch Manager/Head of Marketing at four different Banks namely, Lion Bank of Nigeria Plc, Diamond Bank Plc, Intercontinental Bank and Afribank Nigeria Plc, before joining the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria as Assistant General Manager in April 2010. He rose to the position of General Manager at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and voluntarily retired on the 4th of September, 2023, following his appointment as the Special Assistant (SA) Housing/Chief of Staff to the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa. He served in this position till his appointment as Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria. Osidi is a stellar performer and an achiever who has done creditably well in all assigned roles and capacities. As a testament to his remarkable achievement in the banking sector, Osidi is a recipient of several awards. As SA Housing/Chief of Staff to the Honourable Minister, he strategically led the development of the Honourable Minister’s blueprint and ensured its alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Action Plan for Housing. Between 2017 and 2022, while serving as SA to the MD/CE, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Osidi spearheaded and actively participated in the development and implementation of a 6-point Agenda for the new Management which assumed duty in April 2017. Earlier, from 2012 to 2017, as Group Head, Special Products, he led the development of the Cooperative Housing Development Loan product, which was intended to bring the Informal Sector into the housing finance system, thereby actualising the Bank’s vision of financial inclusion. This led to the delivery of 3,540 housing units to Cooperative Societies across the country. Additionally, in a bid to deepen the Bank’s market reach and address the needs of specific market segments, Osidi initiated the introduction of three (3) new products, namely; the Federal Mortgage Home Renovation Loan, the Rent-to-Own, and the Nigerians in the Diaspora NHF Mortgage loan products. He further facilitated and optimised the Home Renovation and Rent-to-Own loan windows which have in turn achieved a total disbursement of N80.1 billion to 77,575 beneficiaries and N1.14 billion to 76 beneficiaries respectively. Osidi also chaired the Committee that worked alongside other stakeholders to develop a Rent-to-Own product paper under the Bank’s newly opened non-interest banking window. He initiated the development and implementation of Housing Development for Nigerian Workers under the National Affordable Housing Delivery Programme for Nigerian Workers, in collaboration with the Labour Unions namely; the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC); the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA). Osidi holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Bayero University, Kano, 2002 and is affiliated to many professional bodies. He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (ACIPM), a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM), an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB), a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration (FICA), and a Certified National Accountant (FCNA). He has attended several courses both locally and internationally, including, Accessing Global & Financial Resources for Mass Housing, (Ashford & Mcguire Consulting) London, UK (2011); Global Best Practices in Public Finance Management (J. K. Consulting Ltd) Dubai, United Arab Emirates (2012); Leadership Decision-Making: Optimising Organisational Performance, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA (2014); Conference on Diaspora Mortgages – Tour to New York and Maryland, USA and Paper presentation to Nigerians in the Diaspora, Office of Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Washington DC, USA (2014) amongst others. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Boston, USA as well as the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA. Mr. Ibidapo Odojukan is a passionate transformational leader with about 25 years working experience that spans both the private and public sectors, where he held both Executive and Non-Executive positions and managed an array of projects and programs of organizations. Odojukan is deeply passionate about creating sustainable value in organisations and impacting on the effective and efficient delivery of projects and programs in relation to time and budget. Over the course of his career in Executive roles, Mr. Odojukan has managed projects and programs, delivering value in line with outlined business cases and business benefits. With seven (7) years cognate experience in Non-Executive Board roles, he possesses deep understanding of the requirements of corporate governance and compliance expectations. Before his appointment as Executive Director, Finance & Corporate Services at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Odojukan was a Partner and Director, Chestercross Consulting, a management consulting and strategy firm. He has chaired several Board Committees focused on specific areas like corporate strategy, business development, enterprise & investment risk and organizational change. From 2018, before becoming a Director at Chestercross, Odojukan was a Non-Executive Director, Rosaab International Cos. Limited and chaired the Board Committee on Strategy & Business Development responsible for reviewing, iterating and monitoring management’s short, medium and long term strategic plans. Prior to this, he had served as Group Chief Executive Officer at the company from 2012 to 2017. He also served as Non-Executive Director, Charterhouse Pharmaceuticals (2016) as well as Group Managing Director/Chief Executive, Gateway Holdings between 2010 and 2011. While at Rosaab International, Odojukan initiated and drove the establishment of business operations in several West African Countries under the company’s “African footprint” growth strategy. A significant milestone in his career at Rosaab was the execution of nationwide rebranding implementation of twenty three banks inspired by the Central Bank’s banking reforms. Mr. Odojukan holds a Bachelors degree in Philosophy from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria (1990) and has attended several international and local courses including Executive Education: Change and Organizational Renewal at Harvard Business School, Boston USA (2007), Business Analytics Certification Course at Imperial College, London (2022) and Advanced Management Program at Ashridge Management School, United Kingdom (2004), amongst others. He enjoys traveling, reading, learning new things and watching movies. He is happily married with children.

Hon. Muhammad Sani Abdu

Hon. Muhammad Sani Abdu is a seasoned professional, with vast experience spanning 53 years in the public, academic and political sectors. Before his appointment as Executive Director, Loans and Mortgage Services at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, he was a two-term member of the House of Representatives, representing Alkaleri/Kirfi Federal Constituency, between May, 2007 to June 2011, and June 2015 to 2019. At the Green Chambers, Abdu served in several committees namely: Member, Committee on Constitutional Review, Chairman, Sub-Committee on Federal Housing Authority of the Committee on Housing, Member, Committee on Housing, Deputy Chairman, Committee on Nigeria-Saudi Parliamentary Friendship and Hajj Affairs, Member, Committee on Works, Committee on SDGs, Committee on FCT, amongst several others between 2015 and 2019. He was also a Member, House Committee on Housing and Habitat between 2007 and 2011. As a vibrant member of the House, Hon. Abdu sponsored many bills and moved many motions, significantly, a Bill for an Act to alter the 1999 Constitution (as amended), to balance annual budgetary allocation of resources between recurrent and capital expenditure, as well as a Bill for establishment of Nigerian-Armed Forces Reserved Corps. Hon. Abdu’s passion for housing provision impelled him to establish Hinterland Properties Ltd (HPL) in 2002, a platform which he uses to develop properties for sale, lease and rentals. He worked as the Deputy Director, Cooperation and Development Department at the Ministry of Cooperation and Integration in Africa (MCIA), between 2004 and 2006, where he coordinated the Regional Cooperation Division of the Department. As a Deputy Director (Resettlement) at the Ministry of Federal Capital Territory (2003-2004), Hon. Abdu played a critical role in the development of the FCT Mass Housing Policy. From 1993 to 1999, he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, College of Architecture and Planning, King Faisal University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Earlier in 1990, he took up an appointment as the Director, Physical Planning at the University of Jos and moved on to the Urban Development Bank of Nigeria Plc, as Controller and Head of Commercial Ventures and Public Utilities Department. Hon. Abdu was also the National Coordinator, (Rural Housing Programme) between 1989 and 1990, and was responsible for formulating policy issues for the nationwide rural housing programme. In a bid to transfer his wealth of knowledge and experience to the upcoming generation, Abdu took up lecturing at the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi. This was prior to working at the Bauchi State Development Board, Environment Seven (Nigeria) Ltd, and Bauchi State Ministry of Works and Transport. He has held other ad hoc appointments in Bauchi, including Chairman, Environmental Sanitation Task Force Committee, Chairman, Federal Government N20 Million Special Grant Implementation Task Force, University of Jos, amongst others. Hon. Abdu is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (FNITP), Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM) and a Registered Town Planner (RTP). He is a seasoned Boardroom player, having served on different Boards, both in the capacity of Chairman and Member. Between 2000 and 2004, he was the Chairman, Board of Directors, Aso Savings and Loans Ltd, Member, Board of Lion Bank Plc, and Member, Board of Capital Hotels Ltd, Abuja. He was also Member, Board of Directors, Benue Cement Company Plc, and Member, FCT Mass Housing between 2003 and 2004. Between 2006 and 2007, he served as a Member, Board of Directors, ECOWAS Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Hon. Abdu holds a Doctorate in Town and Regional Planning from the University of Sheffield, England, a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning and a Bachelors in Architecture both from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He has attended and presented papers at many international and local workshops and seminars. As a Member of the Development Studies Association of Great Britain, he attended and presented a paper at the 1988 Conference of the Association at the University of Birmingham. He also participated in a training by the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), on Regional Cooperation and Integration in Africa in 2006. Abdu also attended a Common Wealth Fellowship Executive Course in Nanyan University, Singapore on Direct Foreign Investment (DFI) in 2001, amongst many other workshops and seminars. He has written many articles and published some of them in reputable international journals, bordering on rural development planning, urban governance, regional development planning and environmental system management. Hon. Abdu enjoys playing football, jogging, reading and attending study circles.

Mrs. Chinenye Chinedu Anosike

Mrs. Chinenye Chinedu Anosike is an accomplished banking professional, with about 23 years’ experience. She started her banking career with the erstwhile Standard Trust Bank in the year 2001, as a green horn in teller operations. Chinenye rose through the ranks to the position of Branch Manager at the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, before her appointment as Executive Director, Business Development and Portfolio Management, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN). As a Cash Officer, Chinenye was saddled with the responsibility of handling cash transaction entries, posting deposits, paying salaries/instruments and other sensitive duties specific to cash tellers. While handling these tasks, Chinenye simultaneously served as the Customer Service Officer between June 2001 and November 2006. Following her excellent delivery on tasks and her display of integrity, she was promoted to the position of Branch Operations Manager in November 2006, with the core responsibilities of supervising and training Operations staff and ensuring the smooth running of all units under Operations. She subsequently took on the role of Profit Centre Manager and then Branch Manager in November 2012, to manage the brand and ambience of the Bank, market the Bank and ensure effective customer service delivery for the growth of the Branch and the Bank. Her outstanding performance was a gateway to her promotion to the position of Acting Area Manager, with the responsibility of providing leadership and strategic management to the marketing operations of the Bank. She also effectively managed Business Managers in the Area and deepened valued relationships with senior level business clients. Chinenye’s career path has exposed her to different calibres of people and personalities across all sectors of the economy. As the Branch Manager in charge of the National Assembly – House of Representatives Business Office, she assumed the strategic role of serving as a liaison between the Bank and the Lawmakers as well as rendering financial services to the entire National Assembly Community. Chinenye is a graduate of English Language (2nd Class Upper) from Abia State University. In spite of the busy schedule associated with the banking profession, Chinenye’s quest for more knowledge spurred her on to pursue and acquire a Masters in Business Administration (MBA Marketing) in 2017. She has attended several trainings aimed at sharpening her marketing, customer service relations and result-oriented supervisory leadership skills. She participated in the Accelerated Credit Development Workshop conducted by H. Pierson Associates Ltd, as well as the KSBC Advisory Partners Ltd Credit School for Branch Managers, Team Leaders and Account Officers Training Programme. Chinenye is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and a Chartered Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. She possesses exceptional skills in marketing leadership, people development and management, relationship management, turnaround management and credit analysis.
